BTEC Sport

BTEC Level 1/Level 2 First Award in Sport is offered to year 10 and 11 students as an option subject.

The BTEC Level 1/Level 2 First Award in Sport has been designed primarily for young people who wish to explore a vocational route in this area of study. 

It has been developed to:

Encourage personal development through practical participation and performance in a range of sports and exercise activities
Give learners and wide understanding and appreciation of health related fitness
Give learners the opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life.

Students must complete four units of work, two core units one of which is an external online exam and two optional units.

CORE Units

Unit 1 – Fitness for Sport and Exercise (Assessment method - External)

Unit 2 – Practical Sports Performance (Assessment method - Internal)

OPTIONAL Units

Unit 4 – The Sports Performer in Action (Assessment method - Internal)

Unit 5 – Training for Personal Fitness (Assessment method - Internal) 

 

This qualification is a Level 2 qualification, and the certification may show a grade of Level 2 Pass, Level 2 Merit, Level 2 Distinction or Level 2 Distinction *.  If these are not achieved a Level 1 or Unclassified grade may be awarded.

Each individual unit will be awarded a grade of Level 2 Pass, Merit or Distinction, Level 1 or Unclassified.
